3 Keys to Spring Cleaning Yourself to Success
Do you wish you had more time for fun, developing new ideas, starting a new business venture or meeting new people? Are you lacking energy and initiative? It's time for a spring cleaning!
The most concrete blocks to peoples creativity is disorganisation. I know, it sounds like a cliché, or even boring. But when you take time to get rid of piles of paper, old stuff, clothes and even relationships that don't serve you anymore, miracle s can happen. If you don't, you will continue to walk around in the same old shoes, same old patterns, and complain that life isn't working for you.
Everything in your life requires attention and energy. Are your attention and energy being drained away on vast accumulations of old unnecessary, outdated, disorganised, useless stuff surrounding you? If so, realize that all disorder in your life steals your awareness, your most precious commodity.
When I speak clearing I mean clearing on all levels. To be successful on your own terms, you need to travel light.
Always ask yourself; do I carry;
Unnecessary baggage from the past?
Unfinished business in the present?
Sabotaging friends, colleagues or own beliefs and behaviours?
Key No 1. Unconditionally Eliminate Sabotage
Do you surround yourself with critical people, or limiting beliefs about your own capacity, should's, guilt ..? That work against your achieving your goals. Protect yourself from outside sabotage by guarding your goals carefully, keeping them secret. If you feel you must share them with someone - select a few people who you really trust that are supportive to you. If you find yourself surrounded by negative or disruptive energy, notice, breathe and move away!
Key No 2. Stop Seeking Approval From Others
Stop asking people for their opinions! How often do you find yourself asking someone "What do you think…?.. about my hair, clothes, home, job, what shall I do…?
You're asking someone just because you don't know what you want for yourself. Be open to learning something new, but be careful from whom you're learning. Seek out someone who is wiser or better informed. But asking others for approval or input is a sure way to disempower yourself. Put your earmuffs on and tune into your own inner, wiser voice. Get clear in what you want for you. And act on it!
Key no 3. Radically Get Rid of Excess Baggage
Organisation goes back to your intentions. What is it you want? What are your goals? Are you simply drifting every day, or do you want to accomplish something with your life? How do you want to live your life?
Everybody has stuff of sentimental character and importance. Bearing this in mind, ask yourself how much of your stuff is truly reflective of some important life experience and how much is junk accumulated thoughtlessly of? ..and for no purpose? What is it time to get rid of?
Here is a list of things to do and consider, just to get you started:
Throw away the clutter you have on your desk, in your drawers at the office
Throw away all photos you look rotten in
Throw away your ratty underwear and socks
Donate old towels, blankets, and linen to charity
Empty all your waste baskets
Recycle newspaper laying in your house
Clean out your purse
Clean your car
Weed out your closet until you can see the bottom
Throw away all old makeup or ties that are not your colour anymore
Have a garage sale
…
Fee yourself from excess baggage, unfinished business and sabotaging behaviour and people. Make space for miracles!
